However, over the course of their time together, misunderstandings ,especially involving Arthur's ex, Stella , and emotional baggage create tension and pain between them. As three years pass and their marriage nears divorce, arguments and flashbacks reveal deeper truths about what they've meant to each other: Arthur's genuine feelings and Charlotte's struggles with past depression.
