With their wedding imminent, Haruki (Kobayashi Ryuju) and Chikako (Shijimi) decide to split when Chikako's father becomes in need of nursing care. And then the earthquake strikes. Nine years after splitting up, he gets word Chikako, whom he thought had been a victim of the disaster, might be alive. A half-convinced Haruki heads toward Yokosuka where she is supposed to be.
