When her isolation increases as her long term relationship with James stalls, she spends more and more time online. One evening when a pop-up invites her to discover 'The Digital You' Jean is led to a virtual social network world. When she meets Charlie, an artist, she realises she can be who she wants to be, she can be Scarlett, the talented actress she knew she always should have been. Charles may present himself as an artist but really he has retreated into a digital fantasy long ago. In the real world he has sabotaged his relationships while his digital avatar can be who he wants to be and explore new relationships without commitments or consequences. As they form a connection through their digital avatars they retreat more into these digital identities. When Jean, as her avatar Scarlett, asks to contact Charlie in the real world a chain of events is set in motion where the two of them must face the boundaries of their real and digital selves.
