Every day, around the world, thousands of women and children are being innocent victims of the various forms of violence and barbarity of which human beings are still capable today, in the 21st century. Murders of women are continually reported at the hands of those in whom these women placed, in one way or another, their trust, their friendship, their love. Those with whom they forged a common dream, a relationship or a family. Such tragic and devastating news cannot be accepted as an everyday occurrence to which we can become insensitive. No. Because every victim who loses her or his life takes away a little piece of what makes us most human as a society. With each victim, their dreams, their present, their future and the hopes and dreams of those who love them die too.
