In 1974, Harry Martinson and Eyvind Johnson are awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. Two self-taught working-class writers who have risen from the bottom of society to become members of the Swedish Academy. But the prize sparks anger, and accusations of corruption are directed at the Swedish Academy for rewarding its own members. A media storm erupts, and the tone is harsh.
