His mute and sensitive 12-year-old son, Ragu, shares a deep, unspoken connection with the mountains around them. While Tilak sees relentless mining as his only means of survival, Ragu feels the land's quiet anguish. When Ragu is awarded a scholarship to a special school in the city, Tilak-fearful of being left alone and losing much-needed help-keeps him from leaving. Forced to remain, Ragu grows increasingly distressed as he watches the mountains crumble. Their fragile relationship breaks further when Tilak is diagnosed with silicosis, pushing Ragu to take full responsibility for the stall. Yet, as the world around him collapses, one question remains: can Ragu endure?
