The film opens on her performing her signature song "Tits and Whiskey" to a screaming crowd in LA. She's in town for a different reason though - her favorite aunt Cathy passed away. Cathy's daughter, Olivia, was estranged from her mother in life, but Mary offers to drive her across the country to the funeral in her camper van. Olivia and Mary are distant and have almost nothing in common. Olivia's an uptight Victorian goth, and wholly unprepared for Mary's lifestyle full of one night stands and gigs in seedy bars along the way. This odd couple must learn to co-exist if they want to make it to the funeral on time. Written by
