Despite the tragic circumstances, Sandra's experience of coming to Norway was a positive one. As an adult she developed an interest in the effects war has on human individuals and communities, and in this powerful documentary she shines a light on some of her countrymen whose encounters with Norway were far bleaker than her own. Between 1942 and 1945, four thousand Yugoslavians were sent to Norway as prisoners and forced to work in brutal German labour camps. MODUS VIVENDI tells the story of four such ex-prisoners, focusing not only on the inhuman ordeal they endured but also the indomitable humaneness that kept them going. See less
