This irritation sets off an unrelenting firestorm that her long-suffering-if obtuse-husband, Stuart, finds himself on the receiving end of. A wincing hot mess, Fiona vacillates between vulnerability, anxiety, and insecurity around being an empty nester and coming to terms with her changing menopausal body, which refuses to fit into a pair of ridiculous pants. Her rage is both searing and comic, to Stuart's seeming disregard. But on this morning of her birthday, Stuart proves he's more tuned in than she thinks when he challenges her narrative with a simple question, and shows that he hears her after all.
