She gets the chance of a lifetime and goes from Poland to New York on a scholarship to write music. It is 1939. Rushing to her first rehearsal with the orchestra, she is hit by a car on 5th Avenue. When she regains consciousness, she is standing in a theater in front of an orchestra, but not the one in New York. She is in her hometown of Lviv, which has been occupied by Soviet Russia since the invasion. And sitting in the audience is an NKVD officer, her future tormentor, insecure but with great musical ambitions. Thus begins the story of writing a life's work in two worlds, of career development and of walking the bottom of the hell of Soviet captivity. The story of a duel in which she has no chance, yet she takes up the fight. See less
