Through a blend of present-day moments and flashbacks, we witness the gradual unraveling of their relationship, defined by indifference, neglect, and unreciprocated love. The story opens with Eliza sitting alone in her apartment, listening to a record and holding a glass of wine, waiting for something she already knows won't come. Through flashbacks, we see how Nico's constant distraction, failure to show up emotionally, and inability to meet her halfway erode Eliza's hope. He forgets her birthday, brushes off her connection attempts, and gives her lukewarm reassurances that he never follows through on. One key moment comes in a café, where Eliza vulnerably admits, "I think I love you more." Nico reluctantly agrees, acknowledging he never quite got there. This becomes the unspoken truth Eliza cannot ignore. Back in the present, Eliza replays Nico's voicemail over and over, searching for affection in his casual, distant words. Instead, she finds clarity: he will never be the partner she needs. The final straw is his halfhearted, "I miss you. Kinda." Eliza quietly accepts the truth. She deletes an unsent message to Nico, empties his abandoned wine glass into the sink (where it shatters), and finally steps out into the early morning city.
