After the horrors of World War II, the Allies wanted to establish a new democratic order. The Tokyo Trial stands out as a key moment in the history of international law. Judge Henri Bernard represented France at the trial. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a model of international justice became bogged down until 1948: endless translations, political tensions, disagreements between magistrates, and the growing shadow of the Cold War turned the trial into a farce.
