Nancy Sinatra and Billy Strange first began work on an album of California themed songs in 1970 as a follow up to her 1969 album, Nancy. Lack of label support resulted in the album being shelved, and all of a couple of songs that were released as singles, went in to the Reprise Records vault where they remained until Nancy's masters reverted to her seven years later. Fast forward thirty years when, at the encouragement of her daughter, Amanda, the album was finally completed and released in conjunction with Walt Disney's Buena Vista Records on April 30, 2002.
