Renowned thespian and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Bibhas Chakraborty, Bengali Novelist, essayist and Sahitya Akademi Awardee Swapnamoy Chakraborty, educator Dr. Ranjit Chakraborty, folklorist Dr. Dulal Chowdhury, folk singer Gita Chowdhury - tell the tales of their suffering, home language or dialect shift, loss and development due to migration. A large number of the second-generational migrant women educated themselves to earn a livelihood along with their male counterparts. This is the tragedy and triumph of the East Bengali 'diaspora'.
