Once he's shoveled past the overburden, Allen eagerly chisels away at the stone in hopes of finding a gold vein. Having carved out a decent chunk of quartz-rich gravel, he sets out for the river to pan it out for colors. Much to his shock and joy, Allen finds a nugget of gold, which has him race back up to the mine in search of more.
