Symbols shimmy as first light falls on the apocalyptic humanoids. They are characterized in the score by gecko like staccato twists above a fanfare of swirling horns designed to sound like a rolling sea of waves crashing into the shore. As the humanoids rise to a fully conscious state, an orchestral anthem demonstrates their impending power, drawing the viewer into the film in anticipation of where these hypothetical beings may decide to investigate further... At first sight of the shoes the tempo launches into an intermezzo of exhilarating pace as the female humanoids deftly catch, sprint and powerfully leap in their new found footwear, which provides a rich source of bounding and intense energy. As a zenith of athletic verve draws to its climax, the score corresponds with a peak, immediately cutting to a brief mono hiatus in the film during which the tempo ebbs and flows to the final scene. Again at this point the excitement returns as the humanoids investigate and enter a framework in which to pay homage to the shoes. See less
