The Botman family has to bring their luggage to the harbor in a hurry, because a schooner is just leaving...See moreThe governor of Tahiti decides that Ernst Botman shall be stationed at the Kon-Tiki-island Raroia, 450 nautical miles east of Tahiti. The Botman family has to bring their luggage to the harbor in a hurry, because a schooner is just leaving for Raroia. The ship is overcrowded with passengers and also some animals. Most of the passengers sleep on deck during the nights, because it's too hot and too many cockroaches downstairs. Suddenly Villervalle discovers that the two Russian men from the ocean liner are on board this ship as well. He still thinks they are atom spies, although he is told that they are going to put up a coconut plantation. After seven days at sea the ship sails into the doldrums and stops. The cook needs more firewood. Some sailors are sent in a lifeboat to an island nearby, and the Botman family joins them. From the shore the family hears someone screaming in the forest, and Villervalle thinks it's a cannibal.
