The more circumstances are explained to her, the more confused she becomes. Nothing makes total sense, although she is being told it does. In addition to her confusion, she finds she is now able to discern what people are really meaning, even when they seem to be saying something completely different. Or that's what she thinks is happening. She is learning things about her friends and loved ones she never knew, and they are not good. When she confronts them, she is continuously gas lighted, told she is imagining things. She's afraid she's going crazy. A final confrontation forces her to make a decision, for better or for worse.
