Using heavy equipment, the crew and scientists will investigate the course of ocean currents and the ice sheet of East Antarctica in one of the world's stormiest sea areas. They set up land camps, explore the land masses by helicopter and take rock and ice samples wherever possible. It is science under extreme conditions far from any civilization, which demands a great deal of stamina, strength, patience and trust from the almost one hundred souls on board. See less
