Mary explains what struck her was that Carl just vanished which was totally out of character for the police detective and loving husband. In Norfolk, the mysterious Jim Bradley talks to his wife Ruth, remembering how she found him beside the road beaten almost to death many years ago. Ruth wonders if Jim ever wanted to find about his past or real name as his memory is still totally blocked. Jim states that his marriage to Ruth is his life and he is very happy with that, so why care about the past. Back in Genoa City, Paul assures Christine that his father would have never left his family. Christine thinks this can mean only one thing and she suggests having Carl declared legally dead could help Mary find closure. Nikki fills Victor in on the full story on Sharon and Cassie. Victor wonders if the adoptive mother could ever resurface she found at Cassie is now living with them. In Madison, Alice Johnson feels miserable for herself and complains to her mother Alice about her life. Neil advises Victoria to tell Cole that he is the father of her baby. Outside the office, Ashley is stunned by this news. When Ashley reveals to Victoria what she overheard, Victoria orders her to not tell Cole. Neil takes matters in his own hands and informs Cole. Cole dismisses the possibility that he could be the father. Michael thanks Christine for giving him a second chance to help by people practicing law.
