His main goal, however, is to make a documentary about the situation of women in Afghanistan after the Taliban regained control over the country. This endeavor allows him to meet and have conversations with active and inspiring women in different cities of Afghanistan and listen to them as they recite their stories. The film narrates what is happening in Afghanistan through the eyes of Afghan women as they compare the present with the past and foresee the future of Afghanistan. We meet a teacher and a sports coach who continue to teach and train girls after the Taliban banned formal education and sports for girls, a medical practitioner who cares for Afghan children with no support from the authorities, and a journalist who fights in opposition to the Taliban. We also meet a sculptor and two fashion models who have to hide their art, and a parliamentarian who has to hide herself from the police. The filmmaker has to orchestrate these meetings in secret under the pretense of documenting the Taliban's triumph. Failing to conceal adequately can lead to death sentences for both the women he talked to and himself. The filmmaker returns to Iran, but he continues pursuing his subjects online until today. During these four years, only a few of the women he met in Afghanistan remained in the country; the majority were left with no choice but to emigrate. In 2025, they recap their lives during the past few years, explaining how they were forced to adapt to their new situations, and whether they were successful in continuing their professions and keeping up their resilience against the backwardness of the Taliban. By weaving together these diverse narratives spanning four years, collected through both in-person and virtual means, the documentary presents a nuanced and deeply human portrait of Afghan women's experiences under Taliban rule, their fight for rights and dignity, and their unbreakable spirit in the face of oppression and displacement.
