This madrasah is one of the second most symbolic architectural works of Registan Square. The construction of this central complex, which began in 1646 and was completed in 1660, features the mosque area in the western section, where we are currently standing, and the madrasahs in the eastern section. On the other hand, the Tilla-Kari Mosque was built by Bahadur Khan as a model of the Ulugh Beg Madrasah. However, Bahadur Khan did not live to see the mosque completed, as he passed away approximately nine years later, in 1655. The Tilla-Kari Mosque, meaning "gold-plated mosque" or "gold-ornamented mosque" in Persian, served as the central mosque during its time and continued to do so during the later khanate period.
