Economic instability has led to the rise of the far right and politicians have added fuel to the fire by suggesting that Muslims are not doing enough to integrate. During this year's holy month of Ramadan, Jon Ashworth, an elected UK politician, seeks to better understand the meaning of this important period by fasting for a day, in an act of solidarity, in his constituency of Leicester. In "Breaking the Fast" Ashworth visits mosques and Muslim homes to gather an intimate view of the spiritual significance of Ramadan and how his fast is perceived among those he meets. More importantly, it shows how the Muslim community is working to share a version of Islam that is tolerant and understanding. Written by Liberty Media Productions (UK) See less
