In retrospect, these consequences were seen in black and white. Although not the women who found themselves in a dramatic situation as a result. They became invisible, like the heroines of our reportage. When they heard the diagnosis of a serious and incurable fetal defect, they also heard that no one in Poland would help them. They were left alone with the problem, with questions, with the belief that they were unable to carry such a pregnancy to term. Finally, they went to Belgium and the Netherlands, where most Polish women in a similar situation go - so many that employees in local clinics began to learn Polish. They wanted to understand the patients, because neither the local doctors nor the women themselves are able to understand why in the 21st century, in the middle of Europe, they had to leave their own country.
