To avoid the tragedy, Clinical trial and tasting were performed before the king to medicine and food risking the one's life who's tasting it. The one who tasted them were called 'Si-yak-gwan', and they were also used to threat kings by intentionally putting poison in the medicines and food, so the 'Si-yak-gwan' would draw blood and collapse in front of the king.
