Keinosuke reunites with his old acquaintance Yasubei Nakayama (Ryuji Harada) and learns that he has become an adopted son of the Horibe family of Ako Domain and is serving as a carpenter for Lord Asano Naganori (Shunsuke Nakamura). In addition, Shuho (Emi Wakui), his fiancée who disappeared five years ago, comes to apologize. Shuho had become the wife of Seibei Narita (Masatoshi Nakamura), a seafood wholesaler.
