Richard e Lina Kretschkopf are a young peasant couple who live in a small house in the the middle of the German hills. Richard's desire to have a child has grown to the point to become an obsession, especially after an event that has deeply affected him: a first pregnancy of Lina's that ended up tragically. Lina appears anguished by her husband's increasing and almost morbid behaviour, who has begun to build a cradle for his not yet conceived son. Lina eventually learns that she is pregnant again; for Richard begins a new wait filled with hope. It will only be a bitter delusion which will put in motion one of the most terrible events in history. Written by Anonymous See less
