He has been racing since he was eight years old, starting in the world of karting and progressing quickly to win the World Championships in 2010 representing Canada. Daniel is the first to admit that winning is what drives him, but as he has progressed in his career he has also realized the importance of having fun while trying to win. Like many people, Daniel was getting too caught up in the destination instead of the journey, so much so that he had to take four years away from racing because he wasn't getting the results that he and his team expected. After spending some time away from the wheel, Daniel realized he needed a culture reset. He credits the time off for helping him grow as a person and as a driver, and reignite his passion for racing. Shortly after returning, Daniel won the Super Bowl of racing: the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona. Daniel continues to make a name for himself on the tour. When asked what it takes to be a successful driver, his first response is to have no fear. Driving a car is not only excruciating on the body, but also on the mind. The car produces an incredible amount of force and decisions need to be made in fractions of a second. If any doubt or fear creeps in at the same time as reaching these high speeds, not only does the driver risk a high pole position, but also risks his safety. The second thing he believes makes a good driver is braking technique. Most would think racing cars is all about speed and acceleration, but braking technique is an art form that Daniel says separates the good drivers from the great ones. Moving forward, Daniel wants to keep growing as a person. While winning will always be the ultimate goal, he is focused on giving everything he has each day. See less
