It is home to astonishing geological formations, ancient cultural sites and iconic desert vistas and wildlife, including the threatened Desert Tortoise. But Gold Butte lacks any permanent protection status for much of it's nearly 350,000 acres. Modern society, in the form of OHV's or Off Highway Vehicles, continues to impact this fragile landscape.
