The work combines film theory with an eclectic montage from innovative early documentaries to reflect on the aesthetics and politics of non-fictional representation; on the rhetorics of truth of the documentary form. The film draws its inspiration from T.W. Adorno's essay 'The Essay as Form'; from his call for an open, self-conscious and critical mode of expression, which would bring together the formal sensitivity of art with the conceptual specificity of science.
