He is one of quite a troop of young men who wait upon the footsteps of the dainty Miss Louise, but whereas all the others assiduously ply her with dowers and other gifts, Rodolfi artfully affects an attitude of indifference, with the natural result of stimulating her interest, so that when the lady finally declares that they will all take a trip to a rock in the sea and there picnic, and that she will there choose her husband. Rodolfi cleverly arranges that, disguised as a fisherman, he should row in the boat in which Miss Louise takes her way to the rock the others being mortified to see them drift off together in in the craft, while they are left stranded and lamenting.
