She had been an employee of a local greeting card shop; she had been kidnapped. Law enforcement detectives worked the case for years but were not able to solve the case until the advancement of forensic science regarding such evidence as DNA left at the crime scene. Twenty-five years later, the case was finally solved. DNA technology had advanced to the state that enabled the detectives to find the killer -- who turned out to be Gary Schara. Schara confessed to the crime in a hand-written letter to his girlfriend after he found out that a police warrant had been issued for the purposes of collecting his DNA. In the end, Schara pleaded guilty in 2019 and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. See less
