Five years later workmen digging up a burst water main in the same street find Callum's body, carefully wrapped in a blanket. DCI Maggie Brand leads the new investigation. Pregnant when Callum went missing she had to drop out of the case, whose lack of solution destroyed her former boss Phil Anderton. Now her son Sam is starting school. Back in 2008 barbecue guests Teresa and Joe fight when she flirts with another man, Sean, leading to Claire and Daniel also rowing and sending Callum and his brother Luke home with German nanny Nina, who seems to be dominated by her unpleasant boyfriend Jason.
