However, Ethan is surprised to learn that his father, Wei, a wealthy real estate development mogul, has enrolled Ethan in a middle class public school for his senior year as punishment for disobeying his father's wishes. In his new school, Ethan hides the fact that he transferred there from a prestigious academy, in order to fit in. But he suffers a humiliating event on his first day of school. Ethan is later recruited to be the captain of the economics team that will enter the national economics competition, for a shot at winning one million dollars in cash and supplies, after board budget cuts have left the school underfunded. As Ethan begins preparing for the competition, his father has other plans. ...Wei wants Ethan to further the family legacy by one day taking over the family business. So Wei forces Ethan to join a young investors club to learn the ropes of the industry. However, this conflicts with Ethan's after school economics team practices, putting the goal of winning the competition in jeopardy. Rich Kid is a coming-of-age story about a teen who must find a way to be a loyal son,while trying to rescue his school and his reputation. See less
