Brooklyn was a city of crime (not to be confused with violence), on par with New York, at the time. Mostly of the non-violent, non-street type (meaning muggings, robberies, purse-snatching), and sometimes drug dealing (usually non-violent). It was a hit video feature the bro or cus of Jerry Seinfeld, Evan Seinfeld, who was one of the big members. It was a hit video that aired on MTV and BET, with later airings on UPN, another smash hit network, as opposed to The WB, and its affiliates like WWOR. It's also a testimony to "Seinfeld" being more popular than "Friends." The song was a hit on the Billboard charts, and a lot of teenagers rocked out to this, as well as had their posters.
