LEILA, a successful, driven scientist, struggles to balance the demands of motherhood and career. Her well-meaning husband DAVID brings in AMAH as the ideal solution - an Artificially Intelligent android in the guise of a sweet-faced old woman programmed with traditional Chinese values. When Leila's son KEVIN (5) nearly drowns as a result of her distracted parenting, things start to unravel as the overly protective AMAH deems Leila to be an unfit mother. As pressures mount at Leila's work and a traumatised Kevin becomes even clingier, the insidious undermining by AMAH leads Leila to become paranoid and fearful.
