But then Rafi suffered a terrible stroke and haemorrhage that forced him to relearn how to walk and talk. His body was forced into locked-in syndrome. Rafi's family would initially communicate with him just by blinking eyes at one another. Over time, Rafi has re-learnt how to walk and talk, though the stroke has left him with long term speech issues and some memory loss. With an incredibly positive attitude, Rafi hasn't let anything stop him and he started modeling as a teenager and took up competitive race-running, where competitors use a frame to race.
