The play follows the tumultuous tale of a world-traveling man and woman, from their first meeting on a beach in Bali to their marriage in Boston, where the young couple struggles with their conflicting opinions on the importance of having a career versus having a family. Paul wants children, and Susan does not. Recriminations follow as Paul bitterly denounces her for having had an abortion six months earlier without his knowledge or consent as her birthday celebration turns a shambles. One final, brief reunion is attempted, but the couple faces the failure of their once romantic notions. See less
