Although he could be sent to prison for looting, the infantryman takes the gems and hides the diamonds in the stovepipe of a remote German train station before he can be search by MPs. Although the G.I. carefully wrote down the name of the train station, he is unable to find its location on any map of Germany. He travels to New York City's main library for assistance.
