She remembers telling her high school friend when she came out as trans, but it took a bit longer to tell her mum. She sent her mum a text in the lead up to a cheerleading banquet saying she was wearing a dress, and her mum then didn't attend the banquet. However, when Lana won homecoming it was clear to her family that she was happy as a trans woman in a school full of people who accepted her. Lana could also handle herself against the haters who protested outside her school. These days, although they sometimes have their concerns, Lana's family is very supportive of her.
