But as Staller enjoys biting into his roll, the next case is already on the table: a baked-on finger indicates a gruesome accident. Before Hubert and Staller investigate the alleged baking mishap, they want to get rid of the dog first. Staller's informant Yazid has now set up his new business in the premises of the former animal shelter. Since Yazid's shop has the promising name "I do everything," he gratefully accepts Staller's contract to combat the dog plague raging in the district. Police Commissioner Girwidz sees this as a much bigger problem than a lost finger. But Hubert and Staller want to be sure they're dealing with a baking accident and not a crime. Staller personally checks the staff at the "Rattlinger" bakery to ensure their fingers are intact. No fingers are missing, and no one else has reported missing a body part. So the two investigators have no choice but to trace the path of the roll, and thus the finger. This leads them to Rolf Schorf's mill. Together with his wife Karin and the newly qualified young miller Alina Bayer, Schorf is responsible for producing the flour Sabrina uses to bake her rolls. When signs mount that a former apprentice at the mill has disappeared, Hubert and Staller suspect that they are probably not dealing with an industrial accident. Written by ADR Das Erste See less
