But the only driver for miles around doesn't think to stop when Staller raises his stop sign. The car speeds around the next bend without braking and rolls over. Driver Achim Weiß has no chance. Paramedics Johann Kessler and his colleague Wolfgang Hübner can only confirm the man's death. Particularly tragic: The paramedics know the victim as a doctor from the local hospital. Hubert and Staller learn from pathologist Dr. Anja Licht that Weiß was completely sober and that numerous organs had already been removed from him because he had an organ donor card. Shortly thereafter, Janina Kaiser, paramedic Kessler's partner, is taken to the operating room for a life-saving organ transplant. Hubert and Staller initially consider it a fateful coincidence, demonstrating how close life and death can be. But when chief physician Karl Ranzinger openly expresses his surprise that his colleague who had the accident was supposed to have had an organ donor card, Staller begins to doubt that this was merely an accident. When Yazid concludes during his examination of the wrecked car that someone had probably tampered with the vehicle's electronics, Staller is certain: Kessler arranged the accident - the only question is how. Hubert, however, has a different theory. Since the injured man was considered a candidate for the position of chief physician, it seems obvious to him that Ranzinger tampered with the car. The fact that Ranzinger is also the new partner of his ex-wife Anja is, of course, completely irrelevant. Written by ADR Das Erste See less
