Viki stops by Meredith's room after a date with Joe and they discuss Viki's encounter with Vinnie at The Banner. Viki tells her sister that Vinnie is oddly calm as if he thinks Viki will suddenly cancel her wedding to be with him. Meredith recounts her own strange meeting with Karen who is willing to divorce Larry but says she won't be able to live without him. Meredith feels that her rival's life is now in her own hands. Jim shares with Carla and Price his and Anna's worries about Cathy, whose school grades are rapidly falling. Grace bristles at the impropriety when Price wants to go back to Carla's apartment for a nightcap. Carla worries about Karen and considers calling to check on her. Viki advises Meredith that Karen's comments were attention seeking behavior, but Meredith reminds her that Karen did attempt suicide once before. Carla can't get Karen off her mind. Price thinks Carla is too sympathetic to the disturbed woman, but Carla counters that it's not sympathy; it's an understanding of the depth of love a woman feels for a man who doesn't return that love. Price realizes the situation can be applied to their own relationship and asks if it's too late for them? It's not. Just as Price admits he's been dragging his feet in their relationship, the couple declare their love for one another but are interrupted by Sadie who has just arrived back in Llanview. At Llanfair, a sleeping Meredith has a nightmare of seeing Karen's dead body. She awakens screaming and cries that she can't hurt Karen. She and Larry have no future together.
