Avila was known as 'Junior' during the week, but on the weekends, Avila loved wearing wigs and dressing as a woman named 'Kimberly Avila', frequenting the downtown bars of their border town of Brownsville, Texas. Avila's family members acknowledged that Avila was a sex-worker. Unfounded rumors spread that Avila may have been kidnapped or murdered by a member of a Mexican Drug cartel from Matamoros, Mexico after disappearing on May 13, 2017. Over the ensuing years, investigators and family members have looked for Avila but the case turned cold when no new leads or suspects could be developed. See less
