Nadine von Mauthner, born a Rothschild in Frankfurt before WWII, was forced to abandon her home, and flee Germany in 1938. Forced to contend with the break up of her family, and the loss of her Jewish identity, the film recounts the story of her early life as she revisits in her 80's the site of her childhood home-now a city park-and uncovers traces of her past in the city where she grew up. Weaving together observational footage with a rich archive of photographs, the film traces the fragments of a life that was irrevocably altered by the war, and follows Nadine as she attempts to come to terms with her past.
