Terry grows more distant from Cherise and he continues to float closer to the danger zone with his friends from school. Terry eventually admits to Charles that he's joined a gang and asks Charles to promise not to tell Cherise. Reluctantly, but more concerned about Terry trusting him, Charles mistakenly agrees. Patrice and Phillip's relationship continues to suffer from their fostering of Jeremiah. In a therapy session, Charles has a flashback of his past, but it motivates him to never be that person again.
