The son has a neurological condition that makes his muscles collapse when he feels strong emotions, a condition known as Cataplexy. Because of it, the son has undergone mental training to suppress his emotions. It's offered him better control, but limited emotional capacity. When his sister is killed in a car crash, he returns home to the small town where his father, who is involved in shady associations, resides.
