Sailing south from Seattle then west across the Pacific, he didn't have enough money to be sure of being able to circumnavigate, but he did have a film camera. After 6 1/2 years, and several near disasters, he completed his circumnavigation in Seattle. Years later, with experience gained as a combat cinematographer in World War II aboard the USS Yorktown and others, he edited the film he shot during his voyage into this film. His documentary footage of the pre-war South Pacific, Southeast Asia, Red Sea and Mediterranean is both rare and beautiful. See less
