Small thinks they should ride together, but Big insists the sledge would travel too slowly with both of them on board, so he climbs up on his own. When Small finally sits on the sledge, he is terrified: what looks like a gentle, fun slope to a big Big is a dazzlingly steep drop for a small Small.
