On March 7, the religious leaders announced that women had to wear the Islamic veil. From March 7 to March 13, women demonstrated in the streets for their rights and against the mandatory veil. A team of four women from the French Women's Liberation Movement (group "politics and psychoanalysis") filmed these historical events, with a Beaulieu 16mm camera. The film and the sound were saved even though Khomeiny had prohibited all images from leaving the territory. The short documentary film was first shown at the Mutualité in Paris on March 22, 1979. It has never been distributed by its producers, but reappeared on the Internet around March 8, 2009, the year of the Green movement in Iran. Written by Claudine Mulard See less
